Falconets Lose 2-0 to Spain in U-20 Women’s World Cup Opener

Nigeria’s Falconets suffered a disappointing start to their 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign after losing 2-0 to former champions Spain in their Group F opener in Poland.

Spain took the lead in the 13th minute through Marisa García. Nigeria improved after the break and created opportunities, but Spain doubled their advantage in the 72nd minute through Alba Cerrato.

The Falconets will now turn their attention to their next Group F match against China PR on September 10, as they look to bounce back and keep their hopes of progressing alive.
